Introduction to Python
Beginning students' first experience with Python programming through our free community program.

Students dive into the electrical and software principles behind motor control, including PWM techniques for speed and direction.
The Motors Clinic is a focused two-hour workshop teaching students how to control different types of motors through programming. Students learn the electrical and software principles behind motor control, including PWM (pulse-width modulation) for controlling motor speed and direction. The class covers brush DC motors, stepper motors for precise positioning, and hobby servo motors commonly used in robotics. While often taken as part of the robotics program, the Motors Clinic can also be taken standalone by students interested in electronics and automation. This hands-on class gives students practical skills for any project involving mechanical motion.
Motors Clinic is offered through our Tech Club program, so to take this class, join the Tech Club and watch for announcements.
Our community programs remove financial and geographic barriers to quality computer science education. Through partnerships with schools, libraries, and community centers across San Diego County, we provide free Tech Club workshops, scholarship opportunities, and outreach initiatives. We work directly with Title I schools, community organizations, and local libraries to bring experienced instructors and hands-on programming curriculum to students who might not otherwise have access to these opportunities. Many students who begin in our free community programs continue on to our paid weekly classes as they advance their skills.
