This foundational course introduces students in grades 4-12 to the Python programming language for the first time. Students learn basic programming concepts through engaging, hands-on projects that make coding fun and accessible. This course serves as the gateway to our comprehensive Python curriculum and prepares students for more advanced study. Classes meet once per week for 1.5 hours with a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio.
Introduction to Python — Meetup is offered through our Tech Club program, so to take this class, join the Tech Club and watch for announcements.
Our community programs remove financial and geographic barriers to quality computer science education. Through partnerships with schools, libraries, and community centers across San Diego County, we provide free Tech Club workshops, scholarship opportunities, and outreach initiatives. We work directly with Title I schools, community organizations, and local libraries to bring experienced instructors and hands-on programming curriculum to students who might not otherwise have access to these opportunities. Many students who begin in our free community programs continue on to our paid weekly classes as they advance their skills.
